Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) - Montréal
Founded in 1968, the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) is governed by a board of directors composed of executives from the hotel and tourism industries. It offers university-level programs, including a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Hotel and Foodservice Management, which is given in partnership with the Université du Québec à Montréal. The ITHQ also offers a program created specifically for the directors of a major Canadian network of seniors’ residences (Allegro Residences), as well the Advanced Studies in International Hotel Management program, which was designed for the international market and resembles an applied sciences program. Half of the 25 programs offered at ITHQ pertain to tourism and hotel management, while the others deal with cuisine, wine stewardship and service. The ITHQ owns a 42-room commercial “teaching hotel,” as well as a research and expertise centre dedicated to the hotel and food service industries. Every year, the school provides its students with over 1,000 supervised internships in prestigious establishments, most of which are located in North America and Europe.
